Songs from XXX CDs you have purchased from Amazon in the past are now available for you to play or download in Cloud Player for FREE.

You may have noticed that songs from XXX CDs you have purchased from Amazon were added to your Cloud Player library. This means that high-quality MP3 versions of these songs are available for you to play or download from Cloud Player for FREE. You can find your songs in the "Purchased" playlist. Please note that some songs from the above CDs are not eligible for this feature and may not be available in your Cloud Player library.

In addition, we're excited to announce AutoRip. Now when you buy any CD with the AutoRip logo, all songs from the MP3 version of that album will instantly be delivered to your Amazon Cloud Player library for FREE.

Amazon.com が独自のクラウドサービス "Cloud Player" なるものを開始したのは知っていたのですが，それが私のような以前からせっせと CD を買ってきた顧客にまで波及するとは驚きです．

早速 Cloud Player にログインしてみると，あんれまぁ！本当に私がこれまで買った XXX 枚のアルバムの MP3 ファイル数千曲分があるではありませんか！試しに聴いてみると，おう，ちゃんと聴けるではありませんか！

これはすごい！インターネットにつながる環境でありさえすれば，iPhone や Android には Playlist だけを入れておいて，曲の本体はクラウド上に置くという環境がすでに実現しているのです．しかもこれから Amazon.com で買う CD は多くが AutoRip なので，自動的にライブラリに追加されるということになります．

これは私としてはかなりインパクトが大きなイベントです．Amazon.com としては iTunes に対する強力な対抗策として打ち出したものでしょう．なぜならば，こうすることによって，曲ごとのダウンロードと CD アルバムを購入することの差異が非常につけにくくなったということなので，iTunes を離れて Amazon.com に回帰するユーザも出てくることでしょう．

私自身の嗜好は Bluegrass という日本では非常にマイナーな分野なので，iTunes の日本サイトを開いてもジャンルリストにすら出てこないため，何も聴けない・買えないという状態が続いていて欲求不満が溜まっていました．これで iTunes とはおさらばできそうです．
